35 Pounds of Meth Seized with Passenger Vehicle

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials stopped a suspected drug smuggler on Saturday, February 4 and seized a large amount of methamphetamine that was hidden in his vehicle.

A 33-year-old Mexican national from Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico was stopped at one of the vehicle lanes of the DeConcini Port of Entry on Saturday, as he attempted to cross into the United States from Nogales, Sonora, Mexico.

The man was directed to the secondary inspection area of the Nogales port, where CBP officials found packages of meth that had been hidden in the frame of his Pontiac sedan.

Officials seized the vehicle and the packages of meth, which weighed nearly 35 pounds and were estimated to be worth $105,000. The man was apprehended and transported to the U.S. Customs and Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations unit for processing.
