On Friday, September 9, Nogales Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials located and seized packages of methamphetamine from a vehicle driven by a 36-year-old man from Nogales, Arizona.

The Nogales man was crossing the Nogales border at the DeConcini vehicular Port of Entry when his Dodge van got the attention of a CBP drug-detection dog.

That led CBP officers to discover more than 17 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in one of the van’s front wheel wells. The drugs had an estimated value of more than $52,000.

The drugs were seized and the man was arrested by CBP, who then turned him over to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations unit.
