Schedule changes to address COVID-19 concerns
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced on April 3 that the Mariposa Crossing hours of operation will be limited for non-commercial traffic, effective April 6.
The Mariposa Port, normally open 24 hours, will temporarily change its hours to open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 8:00 p.m. for pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
According to a CBP press release, the changes are in response to a request from the Nogales, Sonora SAT customs administrator and an internal effort to help protect CBP officers from coronavirus exposure and stop the spread of COVID-19.
Hours of operation are being reduced at various other ports of entry along the Canadian and Mexican borders. Once the danger of the pandemic spread has passed, it is expected that the ports will eventually return to their normal schedules.
