Please note: visitors may use the Morley Gate to cross the Nogales border into Mexico. The closure only affects traffic into the U.S.
Pedestrian access still open at DeConcini and Mariposa
Mexican customs agency SAT (Servicio de Administración Tributaria) has announced that it will close the Morley Avenue pedestrian crossing in downtown Nogales, Arizona.
The Morley Gate provides direct access to the Cortinez – Elias Calles tourism zone. Businesses directly affected include Young Dental, the Dental Arts clinic and the popular La Rnoca restaurant.
However, these businesses are still accessible for those entering the DeConcini border crossing. Read more information about the Nogales tourism zones.
Other Nogales pedestrian crossings
SAT currently has no plans to close the other two Nogales, Mexico pedestrian crossings at the DeConcini and Mariposa ports of entry.
The DeConcini pedestrian entry provides direct access to the main tourism zones with pharmacies, dentists and medical professionals.
Dentists, Doctors and Pharmacies still open
Although non-essential businesses in Nogales, Mexico have closed, Nogales dental clinics, pharmacies and medical clinics remain open.
SAT limits some commercial traffic
Last week, SAT announced Sunday closures at United States ports of entry.
The timing of the closure may be consequential as thousands of trucks cross the Mariposa commercial port of entry daily during the busiest time of the winter produce season.
