40th Homicide of 2018 in Nogales, Mexico

According to published reports, at approximately 7:00 a.m. yesterday morning a resident of the Colonia Jardines de la Montaña neighborhood in Nogales, Mexico reported a body located under an oak tree on Lago Azul Street.

From news descriptions, the body was found “entamalado” (wrapped up like a tamale) in two blankets with just his feet exposed, with strips of another blanket used to tie blankets shut.

The man, who was estimated to be between 30 and 45 years of age, with long hair, dark skin and various tattoos on his body. His hands and feet were bound. Also, the body had been shot several times and showed other signs of physical violence.

The area was cordoned off by municipal police as elements of the Ministerial Agency of Criminal Investigation (AMIC) and the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) began to investigate the scene.

This was the 40th homicide in Nogales this year.
