One of the region’s most accomplished dentists and dental implant surgeons works in dental offices near the border in the city of Nogales, Sonora, Mexico.

Dr. Victor Manuel Pérez Nuñez is an experienced, well-educated and talented Nogales dentist and oral surgeon who has established himself as one of the leading dental implant specialists in the Arizona-Sonora border region and the southwestern United States.

“Doctor Victor,” as he is affectionately known, is an example of the highly skilled dental professionals who have come from other areas of Mexico to establish a dental practice in Nogales. Originally from Guadalajara, Dr. Pérez first studied music at the University of Guadalajara and is an accomplished piano virtuoso. He went on to study dentistry and dental surgery, graduating from the most prestigious dental school in Mexico, the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in 2003.

An avid learner, he returned to the university from 2007 to 2008 for advanced training and certification in Surgical and Prosthetic Oral Implantology. That same year, he attended a seminar on the “Aesthetics and Functionality of the Latest Implantology Techniques” at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio, and training in the Straumann Dental Implant System. Around the same time, he and his wife Dr. Patricia Ramirez Mendez established Dental Advanced on Avenida Obregon in Nogales, Sonora, a dental clinic located a short walk from the border.

Dental Advanced is truly an advanced dental clinic that utilizes modern techniques like digital x-rays and electronic records and modern materials like composite fillings. And it is a full-service clinic – Dr. Pérez has gathered a group of talented and experienced dental professionals to offer a variety of professional dental services, to include general dentistry, orthodontics, cosmetic and restorative dentistry, endodontics (root canal), periodontics and oral surgery.

And in addition to practicing dentistry for more than 15 years, 10 of those years in Nogales, Dr. Pérez is also an active learner who stays up-to-date on the latest developments in the field of dental implantology and continues to build on his skills and knowledge by participating in advanced training.

Since 2014, he has attended more than 11 conferences and symposia in Mexico, the Bahamas, Brazil, Spain, Israel, Holland and the United States, to stay abreast of the latest information and tools for dental implantology (see his continuing education training listed below).  He performed advanced clinical training in the United States at prestigious locations like Harvard University and the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry.

Dr. Pérez is not only an experienced and well-educated dentist who stays up-to-date on the latest implantology trends, technology, materials and techniques, he also shares his extensive knowledge with dental students, as Professor of Biomaterials and Radiology on the faculty of the Binational University School of Dentistry in Nogales.

I first met Doctor Victor in 2010, when he changed my friend’s life by repairing a gap in her teeth to give her a beautiful smile in just 45 minutes. He is a true artist, and I was so moved by the experience that I wrote a post about it. Since that time he has been my personal dentist and has provided the best dental services I have ever experienced.

But perhaps above all, in addition to his impressive professional credentials, Doctor Victor is a very kind and compassionate person who cares about his patients’ dental health and well-being.
