Art, curios and more in the Nogales border tourism zone
Nogales, Sonora is known for many things, and one of its traditional claims to fame and main tourist attractions is the many curio shops and vendors who sell a variety of interesting Mexican crafts, art and home furnishings from all parts of Mexico.
From the tacky to the truly beautiful, curios are a unique part of the Mexico border shopping experience. Inexpensive “curiosities” are often have a humorous theme and make unique gifts and special recuerdos (keepsakes) of your trip to Nogales.
There are three main curio shopping districts within walking distance of the border – “El Triangulo,” (the triangle), Pasaje Morelos, and Avenida Obregon. In addition, street vendors on corners and walking through the streets sell handmade goods like woven bracelets and necklaces.
And the tradition of haggling is still alive, especially in these challenging economic times, so you can get a deal on that Mexican curio that you’ve always wanted.
